  1.         SETTING UP THE TELEBIT OR "WOW THIS SUCKER IS BIG"

  3. I have been helping alot of users set up the new telebits, enclosed
  4. you will find a text file from Terry Teague on some of his observations
  5. with the file transfers. He has been working very hard to perfect the ul/dl
  6. transfers at the high speeds you will be using.
  7.  
  8. There is also a file with some general information on the Telebit and the 
  9. company history. Just some tidbits for your info..

  11. I have included a Microphone set up file that i use all the time, it has
  12. a few scripts to send text to the modem:

  14. INIT-- to initialize the modem after you take it out of the box (Big sucker)
  15. 19200--for initializing the modem for calling out to a bbs
  16. BBS--  to reinit the modem if you are running a wwiv bbs
  17. SPEED--to check the online speed
  18. RE-NO--to re nagotiate the online speed for increase baud rates
  19. LOGON--for your log on to other bbs's, (fill in the xxx)

  21. I will try to discribe these and what they do for you.

  23. INIT...when ya take the modem out and hook it up it is preset at the factory
  24. to 9600, the microphone terminal you will use is set to 19200 now, go to
  25. communications and set the speed to 9600 and click on the init button. you
  26. have just set up the modem to 19,200 baud and changed some settings. now go
  27. back to communications and set it back to 19,200 baud..

  29. 19200...when you are ready to try it out click on the 19200 button, you 
  30. have set it up to connect at 19200 baud so get ready. when the bbs answers
  31. it will send the 1200 and 2400 carriers first then wait a few seconds and
  32. start to send the multi carriers to establish the 19,200 connection, in a 
  33. few seconds you have connected and you should see CONNECT FAST
  34.  
  35. BBS...if you dont have a wwiv bbs you can delete this one, if you do, users
  36. of version 2.2 should change x3 to x1, if you are running 2.3 this will 
  37. work great, it does on mine..

  39. SPEED...you can check your online speed by hitting the +++ 3 times at any
  40. time, then send this script and you will check the speed and return online
  41. to the bbs in one quick move, you should see:

  49. the 13456 is your sending speed
  50. the 14589 is your recieving speed

  52. not too bad for long distance...

  54. RE-NO...is to renagotiate your online speed, hit the +++ again and then
  55. the button, if your speed was 10k or so you should see an increase of
  56. 1 or 2k, like from 10567 to 12954 isn't uncommon..

  58. LOGON..i have included a log on procedure, it works great and i wish 
  59. everyone would use them, when it is time to put you name and password in
  60. hit the LOGON button and it will send the name, password and last 4 of
  61. your phone number.(change what i put in there unless you are jon doe)
